MY TESTIMONY
Pastor Leon Jones Jr was born on November 13, 1967, in Somerville, TN, to his deceased parents, Leon Jones Sr. and Diann Marshall Jones. He grew up in the Clementine apartments of South Memphis and later moved to Smokie City in North Memphis.
In his humble beginnings, he was named Boy of the Year by Boys Clubs of America in the State of TN in 1985. In 1986, he rode his bike across the entire state of Iowa to raise awareness for breast cancer. He graduated from Northside High School in 1986. He went on to receive a Master of Ministry in 2009, followed by a Doctorate in Christian Counseling from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, FL, with Summa Cum Laude Honors in 2015. He also earned another Master of Christian Studies from Union University in 2023.
Pastor Jones is a Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church member, where Dr. J L Payne serves as his Pastor. He served as a Youth Pastor at New Shelby Baptist Church Joe N. Wiley in 1999 and pastored Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Memphis for nine years. He is a Church Planter and Senior Pastor of The Dwelling Place Church in Memphis, launched in July 2012.
Pastor Jones worked for 20 years at Baptist Hospital, where he held various positions, and his last post was as Coordinator of Cardiac Pulmonary Rehab. He is an active member of The Southern Baptist Convention, Tennessee Baptist Convention, and The Mid-South Baptist Association. He is also dually aligned with the National Baptist Convention.
Pastor Jones is a Missionary to Brazil and Linstead, Jamaica, and a sought-after Singer and Revivalist. He is a Bi-vocational Pastor and was previously employed by Union University-MCUTS Campus as a Director of Enrollment specializing in Church Planting, but he resigned in 2023.
He resides in Memphis, TN, with his wife, Juanita, three children, and two grandchildren.
